Roof leak repairs
Where water shows on your ceiling is rarely where it enters the roof. We trace leaks back to their source, usually a flashing, valley, chimney or slipped slate, and repair the cause so the stain doesn’t come back.

Signs to look for
How do you know you need it?
A stain that grows after rain
Brown rings that spread after heavy or wind-driven rain point to a roof leak rather than plumbing.
Damp around the chimney breast
Often failed flashing, flaunching or a cracked stack, not the slates at all.
Drips only in some winds
Wind-driven rain finds gaps at verges and abutments. Telling us the wind direction helps.
Our approach
How do we do it?
- 01
Start in the loft
We follow the water marks on the timbers back up the slope.
- 02
Go up and confirm
We find the defect on the roof and photograph it.
- 03
Fix the cause
Flashing, valley, slate or seal: repaired properly, not sealed over with mastic.
- 04
Check in the next rain
We ask you to tell us how it behaves in the next heavy rain.
Questions
Common questions
Can you find a leak that others couldn’t?
Persistent leaks usually come from somewhere nobody looked: a back gutter behind a chimney, a cracked valley, or a lifted soaker. We trace before we touch anything.
Is it a leak or condensation?
Condensation shows as damp spread over the underside of the roof, worst in cold weather. Leaks follow a path. We can tell the difference in the loft.
Will you just put sealant on it?
No. Mastic over a failed flashing buys weeks. We replace or redress the lead, slate or tile that failed.
